Iron EagleX (IEX) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer-Hybrid to join our team at Ft. Liberty in Fayetteville, NC. IEX specializes in delivering innovative solutions to government and defense partners through mission-focused expertise in data engineering, software development, and systems integration. Our work supports complex and dynamic environments where adaptability and technical precision are key.

 

The Senior Data Engineer will play a critical role in standardizing, cleaning, and preparing large datasets for ingestion into critical data architectures, supporting command and mission partners. This position requires an experienced professional who thrives in challenging environments and brings a deep understanding of mission systems, programming, and network technologies.

 

Job Duties include (but are not limited to):

 

The Senior Data Engineer will support data lifecycle management and system integration efforts, ensuring the seamless ingestion, processing, and delivery of clean datasets to command and mission partners. Leveraging expertise in data engineering and architecture, the role will enhance and optimize existing dataflows, develop robust systems, and ensure compliance with government requirements.

  • Provide expertise in data standardization, formatting, and cleaning of datasets for ingestion.
  • Support data ingestion processes into command and mission partner systems through robust data architectures.
  • Collaborate to model graph environments to represent and optimize enterprise data integration.
  • Assist internal stakeholders in understanding, accessing, and utilizing graph environments effectively.
  • Implement and manage distributed messaging systems (e.g., Redis, Kafka, or SQS).
  • Administer and optimize application servers, web servers, and provide system engineering support across heterogeneous environments.
  • Enhance existing environments by improving security, usability, performance, and scalability with innovative services.
  • Provide system design and integration support for local and wide-area network architectures.
  • Support and enhance dataflow systems and develop resilient web-based applications for remote users.
  • Perform system O&M, including patching and IAVA compliance.
  • Collaborate with external engineers to ensure seamless integration into government networks.
  • Conduct system testing, performance evaluations, and develop technical documentation to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, programming, or scripting with a focus on large-scale data systems and graph-based technologies.
  • Deep understanding of graph data structures, algorithms, and graph database technologies such as Neo4J, JanusGraph, or Amazon Neptune.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in big data solutions, data ingestion processes, and data standardization.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Apache, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and operating systems like Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, PHP, REST, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, XML, and KML.
  • Proven ability to integrate complex dataflows into national databases and optimize data transport and movement.
  • Experience with system design, network architectures, and failover solutions.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity, system performance, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, simulation, and analysis of network and data systems.
  • Ability to develop tools to automate manual tasks and process disparate data into cohesive frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical findings to military and government stakeholders.
  • Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible for this role.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong customer-facing communication abilities.
  • Experience developing custom scripts and tools for data processing, monitoring, and automation.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

Security Clearance: 

  • An active Secret Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
